Requesting prayers please....

My sweet neice Grace Kay is having a hard time...Please read Libby's blog post below for details...she is the most precious thing...and your prayers are appreciated! For those that don't know, Libby is my younger sister and Grace Kay is her oldest daughter. Thanks everyone...

"Let me check your doctor" from http://www.libbymelton.blogspot.com/

That's usually what Grace says when she is playing with her doctor kit...she means, let me check your heart, but says "Let me check your doctor!" instead. The reason I am saying this is that it seems that little Miss Grace is going to be having some doctor visits of here own here in a bit. Kyle took her last week b/c we were afraid that she was getting a bladder infection...she kept having accidents and was telling us it hurt when she went tee-tee....so anyhoo...the good news is that she doesn't have a bladder infection but does have some bacteria that shouldn't be in her tee-tee....so, this means that either she could have a hygiene problem (wiping) or it could be a kidney problem or it could also mean she has something called vesicoureteral (VU) reflux...I'm thinking we just need to practice wiping a little better, but to make sure that she doesn't have any more major issues, we are going to have to take her in to get a renal ultrasound and a children's (pediatric) voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG). The doctor didn't sound extremely worried, but said that for children under 3 that have this bacteria in their tee-tee, it's better to go ahead and make sure that it's nothing more serious than hygiene problems. So calling on all of you prayer warriors out there!! I know that these won't be just the worst types of procedures to have done, but I know it will be scary for my sweet 2 year old...I mean, a bunch of big machines and strangers prodding and poking her doesn't sound like my idea of fun. So, if y'all could just keep my sweet Grace Kay in your prayers (I don't know when we're getting it done...rest assured that I will blog about it so that you can pray specifically on the day:)) and maybe send one or two up for her Mom and Pops...we'd greatly appreciate it!!

The coffee creamer gods are against me-or so I thought!

Last week I made my weekly trek to Walmart to do some grocery shopping. While looking over the coffee creamers I found a flavor that had my name written all over it-White Chocolate Coconut! I was SO excited. When I got up front to start checking out, I discovered that the lid on my creamer was busted...how did I miss that? So, the lady took it and I just figured I would wait to get some at a later time. Well, I thought about that creamer ...so the next day I went back to Walmart just for creamer...and that next morning I was all too excited to wake up to make a cup of Sumatra Extra Bold with my creamer. I brew the coffee in my Keurig, put in my Tbs of Splenda, get the creamer out of the fridge and go to open it-and there is no protective seal! No foil cover-nothing! How could this be happening? What's a girl gotta do to get some coffee creamer??!! I was tempted to just take my chances on whatever poison could be in there, but sadly, I just poured it all down the drain. The next day-I went to Target--trusty Target, and they actually had my creamer there! And it was on sale! I checked that bottle over like it was under arrest. I took the lid off, checked for seal, made sure there were no cracks...all was clear. FINALLY!

Fast forward to tonight-
We have been stuck inside all day due to an ice storm. I thought it would be nice to make us some hot chocolate. I like coffee creamer in my hot chocolate. Barry came in and I offered him some as well-thinking he would pass. Barry hates coffee and all things related to coffee. He thinks it smells so bad and cries like a baby any time I brew a pot-you would think I was boiling cabbage or something. That is one thing he likes about my Keurig-it is a single cup brewer and doesn't smell new as strong. So, he came over and looked at the choices of creamer-which prompted me to tell him the story I just bored you with above....and when I got to the point of the protective seal missing-he got a funny grin on his face......ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? HE was the one that opened it and DRANK some of the creamer! He hates coffee...what would ever make me think he would DRINK the creamer?? I explained to him the trouble I went to to get it and that I poured that bottle down the drain...and he just thought it was SO funny....He never ceases to amaze me. Oh well, we had a good laugh and can I just say-the coconut creamer is delish in hot chocolate too!

Valium anyone?

Ok, so as some of you know I have been having tooth/dentist issues. I went and found out that I have three cavities, one of them is a possible root canal-she said she won't know until she gets in there. This whole thing stresses me out because it is ALOT of money. I shouldn't complain, because it is much, much more if we didn't have insurance. Anyway, I have been feeling pretty confident about it because it really hasn't been bothering me, which she said was a good sign it was just a cavity...until today. Holy mother of Pete, I have had to different times tonight where I had just shooting pain in that tooth-and I can tell it is to the nerve. I am afraid to eat or drink anything, the tooth is sensitive all of the sudden even to the touch. My appointment isn't until next Tuesday-first time she could get me in. So I will make due-and Barry said we will do whatever we have to financially and it will just work out. So-here is my question-and Tanna maybe you can ask Brandon-have any of you ever done "sedation dentistry"? The dentist gave me a prescription for valium-one to take the night before and one to take an hour before my appointment. I of course am having to stay the night at a friends house so that she can drive me to the dentist. I have never taken pain pills-but this is more for anxiety-because I am already working myself up over this-a week in advance-and the new pain in my tooth is not helping calm my fears! Will it really help me? Or will I just be really sleepy? Do any of you have these same fears or am I just weird? Can you help a sista out??

Tag-Your'e It

I was tagged by my friend TANNA on a fun picture game. Here is what you do:1. Go to your 4th folder where you store your photos.2. Select your 4th picture (no exceptions)!3. Post the picture with an explanation and link it back to your tagger.4. Tag 4 people (or as many as you want) to do the same!!

Barry and I have been big fans of Henrietta Bearcat football for the past few years-all because of #24 here-his name is Danny Mack and he is a senior this year. This was taken after a game-a win against Jacksboro-big rival. I have watched this boy grow into a young man-he turns 18 tomorrow! He is one heck of a ball player!

Ok-now I tag anyone who reads this who hasn't already done so!

No change for me, despite change in effort

I went and did my weekly weigh in today at lunch, and stayed the same. Which I guess is ok. I was a little disappointed because I have tried REALLY hard this week. Maybe it will pay off next week. Tonight after work I am going to a ZUMBA class-this should be interesting. It is a dance cardio class that is offered on campus, so I can go for free. Then I have a birthday part to go to.
If you are reading this, please say a prayer for my sweet sister Libby. She had her wisdom teeth taken out this morning.
I hope that everyone has a good weekend-take care!

They even came with a spork

So, today I had to run to Target at lunch. I stopped by Taco Bueno and got a chicken taco salad with no guac or sour cream, on a plate, not the yummy bowl. I had salsa for dressing. Actually, wasn't too bad, just long to order! I am supposed to have a fruit at lunch....
So while I was at Target checking out, my sweet tooth kicked in. And in the line they have these yummy chocolate oatmeal ball things that come in a snack bag. They are SO good. But so not what I am supposed to eat. Just before I caved, I saw snack cups of mandarine oranges! Not only were they cheaper, but they were something I COULD have! So I thought, I will get these and eat them when I get back to work so I could get a fork. Except when I opend the lid-there was a "spork" up under there! Cutest thing ever! Well, not ever, since I have some nieces that beat out the spork in the cuteness category! Anyway, exciting story for lunch!

My goal for this evening is to be productive-in some form or fashion. I need to unpack from this weekend, laundry, walking, something other than watching shows I have recorded on DVR! We'll see how it goes.......

Update

Well, I went and weighed in on Friday and I had lost 4.5 lbs! I will go again this Friday so wish me luck! This past weekend we went to Pampa to visit Barry's mom. We had a good time, I attempted to eat the best I could. Though I was introduced to a new enemy-cheesecake Hershey kisses-are from the devil by the way! Man, my two favorite things in one little bite-dangerous.

Tonight is our Beth Moore study. I am looking forward to it, even though I didn't finish my homework (sorry Cindy if you are reading this) I get really discouraged when she discusses the history portion of Esther. Kings and their lands, their names, who they were married to...I get lost really easy. I have always struggled when studying the Old Testament. Hopefully tonight our discussion will help make some sense of it all.

Not much going on this week-my goals are to walk on the treadmill at LEAST three times this week-I am going to clean the house since that didn't get done over the weekend. Barry will be home Saturday night and be off Sun, Mon and Tuesday. Monday night is date night, so that is always something to look foward too.

Tanna, if you are reading this, I am thinking of you and Brylee today-thank you for your email. It is amazing what blogs and such can do for friendships, both new and old! I hope you have a good day....

Libby, I hope that you don't find Grace getting into anything else she isn't supposed to, though that is highly doubtful! Can't wait till March when I can see ya'll-but I sure could use some pics between now and then (hint, hint).

Ok,I have to go work being a loser. Love and hugs to all!!

I should be working.....

Just a quick note-
I have not done so hot on my "diet" this week-but it isn't because I have been hanging out at McDonald's-it is because I have been sick! Tummy troubles and flu like symptoms do not make a girl want to eat 6 oz of protien and 4 oz of steamed anything! Crackers and sprite for me please!! Which are not on my program, and yes I could have had diet sprite and melba toast (which are on my program) but that doens't EVEN sound good-I am not a fan of diet sprite. I have really gotten off sodas all together, so Sprite is stretching it. Anyway, you get my drift. So I am going to weigh in tomorrow after being away for two weeks-time to face the music. EEEK! I will let you know tomorrow how that goes.

Now, for something that has been on my mind. You know from a previous post that I have a cavity. Or, at that time I thought I did, and I was right-instead of one, it is THREE. Serioulsy? I brush my teeth, honest. The one that I knew about, is a possible...GASP...root canal! Dr. said that she won't know until she gets in there. It may just be a deep cavity. Which means the difference in $130 or $640, the difference in me needing gas, or valium (she gave me a prescription just in case)....so I have been doing some serious praying over my tooth. I mean, I have done everything but pull the thing out and throw it to the heavens in hope that it is just a cavity, for my checking accounts sake, and for my santity, because the thought of a root canal just makes me want to hide, for a very long time. While praying over my tooth, I think "does God listen to little, silly prayers over things like teeth? Especially when others have much worse things like, um, cancer!" and then I have guilt for praying for my tooth. Then...
Last night I started a Beth Moore study on Esther, it was just the introduction. And she was talking about knowing that God is there, even if we can't feel Him. And she said that he listens to our prayers, even if we think they are small, everyday, not so important to Him-they are important to HIM. Can I get an AMEN for that??
So, the Dr. said that if my tooth isn't hurting all the time, throbbing, keeping me up at night, then it is more than likely just a cavity-and can I just tell you that it has barely bothered me since my appt?? WHOO HOO-and my appt to have the work done is in Feb.

Ok, back to work, just needed to share. have a terrfic thursday!

Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it

it is sunday night and i am getting ready for bed. it was such a good weekend with friends and family. i love every moment i get to spend with my nieces.
i got home in time to take a short nap and refuel to go to walmart. i went into wichita and got groceries so that i can start off on the right foot tomorrow. i am ready to really dig my heels in and get into the grind on this diet. i was doing so good right before the holidays and then it went downhill. i am ready to get back on track so that we can start planning our family. that is my main goal-i am so, so ready for a baby. barry is beyond ready. spending time with grace and hailey is just a reminder that i want that so much. it is time-and it is time for me to work on myself. i need to take the time out to plan ahead and do this. so, tomorrow i start fresh and i will post on here to keep myself accountable. i know that few people read this but it is a way for me to get out some emotion (we all know i am overloaded with that!) and keep track of the journey. so, feel free to leave words of encouragement-i will take it!

Gas until I'm 80

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season with their families-I know I did. I think I had Christmas postpartum-I was so sad when it was over. But, I reminded myself of a Dr. Seuss quote that I heard once-"Don't frown because it's over, smile because it happened." Having children in our family has truely brought back the magic of Christmas. We are blessed beyond measure.

New Year's Eve was pretty quiet. We had a couple over and played dominos and just ate snackies. Mainly shrimp-they brought over a HUGE shrimp tray. We had alot of fun. Funny how New Year's Eve changes over the years as we get older! And I am thankful because today I didn't have a headache!

I have really enjoyed my time with Barry the past few days. I am thankful he was able to be off for New Years. We did nothing today-and it was beautiful. He cracks me up-earlier he asked me if I needed anything from the store. I said yes, please get me a can of black eyed peas. That's it-one can, nothing fancy, no list..no instructions. He came back with milk. Milk. No black eyed peas. Bless his heart, he tries! So today I pray that wives tales are just that-because we didn't eat our peas today. I had to giggle later when I was getting ready to cook dinner. I felt like I was 80-sitting on the couch snapping green beans and watching the news. Barry was in his recliner with doggies in his lap. We are happy-and that is all that matters!

Tomorrow I am going to Whitesboro to spend some time with my Aunt Sandy. I have no idea what we will do, but Barry goes back to work today and this way I don't have to spend the weekend alone. Aside from laundry, which for some reason is never ending with two people, I don't have much to do around here.

Now-for an explanation to my title-I think I have a cavity. And I have a terrible, terrible fear of dentists. I need to go, for Pete's sake our insurance gives us two free cleanings a year! The smells, the sounds, the loss of control as I lay in a chair with my mouth open not being able to see what is going on...it is just all too much. I could vomit just thinking about it. I have only had two cavities in my life. God bless Dr. Hempfling in Wichita Falls, because he will still give me gas. I know that most people can handle it-but I am not most people. Thankfully all of the ladies in his office know and understand my fear so they are so helpful...guess it is time to call and get gas.

Here's to a wonderful and blessed 2009!
